Hi,
I am doing a project for my art class in college where I have to pick a portrait and dress and act it out infront of my class so they can guess which one I am “being.” I chose to do American Gothic because it is very regonizable and iconic. I am just having a little trouble finding the clothing the woman is wearing. How did you get the fabric? and where might I find something like the black dress with a white colllar she is wearing? i have everything for the man ( including the glasses) i am just having a little bit of trouble with the woman’s unique outfit.
Anything you could do would help,
thanks!
Samantha
The man’s clothes are much easier to source aren’t they! I made the black dress and pinafore and I even had the fabric created to match the painting by a company called Spoonflower: http://www.spoonflower.com/welcome
I made two sets of the wonen’s clothes – one I kept and the other I sent to the American Gothic House Centre: http://www.wapellocounty.org/americangothic/about/index.htm as a thank you for permission to use their photograph of the house as a background. That is not a great deal of help for you though – I assume you don’t live near Lincoln (UK)
